Independence Day Festivities
Published: June 28, 2022
Most all of us love to wrap up the celebration of our Independence Day festivities with a spectacular fireworks show. Moreover, it’s fun to see a good show right from your own neighborhood. Out here in Rockwall county, it is legal and many individual homeowners enjoy setting off their own fireworks. Some are as good as any of the professional displays you will see around the county.
However, there are some of your neighbors who aren’t as excited to see or hear the big booms and sparkling lights. For those who are sound sensitive, those who have PTSD issues, parents of babies or small children, those with asthma, and for many of our four-legged family members, fireworks can be quite disturbing and stressful. If you or your loved ones struggle with sudden loud noises such as the explosion of fireworks, there are several websites like the one listed below that offer some excellent ways to cope.

Likewise, those of you with dogs or cats know these celebrations can be very frightening for them as well. Reports of lost pets spike exponentially during this time. Because the holiday falls on a Monday, be aware that fireworks will very likely be going on from Friday, July 1st through Monday, July 4th. You should plan to keep your pets indoors beginning at dusk through midnight on those days, and make sure they are microchipped just in case they do get out. If you must take them out at this time, make sure they are leashed even if your yard is fenced. Should your pet get lost, please take advantage of the Lost & Found Pets section here on our website found under the About Us tab. You can also list them on the Chisholm Ranch Facebook page and Nextdoor. The American Kennel Club also has some great tips to help keep your pet safe at the following link: https://www.akcreunite.org/fourthpetsafety/?goal=0_3819988937-bbd0a0660d-150592421&mc_cid=bbd0a0660d&mc_eid=c44bb5b3af.
If you are going to set off fireworks, be courteous to your neighbors. Let them know what day and what time you’ll be setting them off – either by posting on the Chisholm Ranch social Facebook page or letting them know in person. And finally, please abide by the If-You-Launch-It, Pick-It-Up policy, which will help to keep our neighborhood beautiful, safe and clean.
Have a very happy and safe 4th of July everyone!
Note: Your HOA does not support or engage in any fireworks displays nor do any of your homeowner dues get used for such in accordance with the CC&R’s.
